Marketing Expo

I would like to thank all teachers, staff, students and most of all the marketing students in making making this marketing expo a success.  It was very stressful in making this come to pass but we all did it and we most be proud of our hard work and give ourselves a pat on our shoulder for this success.  Tropical Sno Cones was a business that sold snow cone with different flavors for $1.50 and $2.00 and you could customize them with wormy, bun bun , chocolate and condense milk on them if  you wanted to make them unique form the regular snow cone.
At the end of the expo Tropical Sno Cones sold all their cups, as a result of this the business could see that they pass their expected sales and also that the SJC student body like the snow cones.
Therefore, Tropical Sno Cones would like to thank all its customers it had on the day of the expo and all its group members (Juliet McNab, Josie Flowers, Kara Menzies) to make it a success.
Good Luck to every one in their exam, and a safe and enjoyable summer.

A Carbbiean Poem by Theodore Roethke

My Papa's Waltz

The whiskey on your breath
Could make a small boy dizzy;
But I hung on like death:
Such waltzing was not easy.

We romped until the pans
Slid form the kitchen shelf;
My mother's countenance
Could not unfrown itself.

The hand that held my wrist
Was battered on one knuckle;
At every step you missed
My right ear scraped a buckle.

You beat time on my head
With a palm caked hard by dirt,
Then waltzed me off to bed
Still clinging to your shirt.

Reflection

The boy is enjoying the time that he has with his father after he comes home from work.  He place his feet on his father feet and then he waltz around with him.  This poem to means to me that you should cherish the time that you have with our father because some day we don't know when we will lose him or if he will lose us.

Running a Business

When running a business it is very hard challenge to do.  Is is do to paying all the bill, making sure that all employees are getting paid, and are also to make sure that the business have enough money to run it day to day expense.  In having a business there are rules and regulation that are set by the state or country you are living in.  A business most first register their business and getting a trade license to operate.  They must also have a location that is assessable by their customer and suppliers so has to increase sales and supplies on time. A business most have a creative marketing department so also to catch you customers attention and want to by your product.  Marketers most keep in mind the four Ps Price, Place, Product and Promotion along with the four Cs Communication, Convenience, Customer cost and Customer Solution.

Prom

Prom is the main reason why every one wants to graduate from high school.  Prom night is said to be the night that you will never forget, it is the night that you dress up and let yourself feel like a really princess or a star because people from all parts of the city come and watch you and your date walk in to your prom.  The main essence at a prom is the prom dress the reason for this is that the girls take for ever to choice a prom dress.  Meaning if they like the style, shot or long puffy or skin fit, tub or with strap and most of all the color of the dress.  Next comes the shoes, then the hair style.  With the male it is their suits the color of their vest most match their female dress.  Also the corset must also match the dress.   When the night of the prom every one is exciting because of the ride they are going and that will be the last time they will spend their time as a fourth form class in high school.  There will be food and drinks and lots of dancing an picture taking there so that you will never forget that night cause it is a one in life time thing.

Summer

When, exam are finish and grades are in it is the sign that school is close and it the beginning of the summer holiday.  Everyone uses their summer holiday differently. Some go to summer school to finish up classes that are left before graduation, some go to work known as a summer job, some just stay home and watch television, some go to states and travel the world, or some just volunteer their time to the needy.  It doesn't matter what you do for the summer but as long as you stay out of trouble and get prepared for the new school year to come.  However, summer for me is almost like every one else from I could could remember every summer I would go to summer school, or go into different summer activities, on the other hand when I was in high school I found my first summer job at my uncle's hardware store and form there I then started to work at Atlantic Bank Limited and I really enjoyed it.  The reason I enjoyed it was it had a different atmosphere from school it gave me a sense of independence when working for your own money.  I would like to wish every one good luck in their exam  and hope that they use their summer wisely.

Homework

Homework also know as assignment, is what students hates and are afraid of the most.  The reason are that they don't like to do home work because it takes time out of their social activities such as watching the television, chatting on the net or on face book, and listening to much and  also hanging out with friends on the weeken.  Some students do not really care about their home work because when they go to school the next day or on the Monday they will just copy it from a friend which is not beneficial to none of them. So its best to do your own home work cause in the end you will pass your test while you friend might not.

Graduation

June is know for the month of granducation of all schools from pre school to Unverstiy level.  It is a time where familys are so proud and happy that their child has made it and have graduate with honors. Graducation is also a feeling of self pride and honor and happness because you made it, becausse all that hard work and late night studing paid off.  So study hard and pass your exam and make you parents and your self pround when that day comes.

Diploma Exam

Diploma exam this the last and final exam of your four years at high school.  This exam is nerve racking and frighting to some people.  The reason for this is that it makes you or brakes you.  Therefore, if you pass the exam and your other term you are most likely to graduate, on the other hand if you fail that then you have to make sure that your other terms are high to allow you to pass, but if you other terms are not high then most likely you will have to return to fourth form for another year an I know no one wants that.

My advice in taking diploma exam just relax make sure that you study and to have confidence in yourself and most of all take your time when taking the exam and make sure that you answer all question to the best of your ability.

Good luck to all those taking their diploma exam and that all goes well.

Miss taken identity

Miss taken identity is something that is greatly affecting the number of death in Belize.  The reason for this is that a person would take someone else for their victim and in the end kill an innocent person.  Miss identity can destroy a person reputation if  the person continue to carry the information incorrectly because of miss identity.  This can happen to anyone, even you.  In one such case a young lady was taken for someone else for miss classes and the person told her parents and they scold and punish her because of what they were told.  She tried to explain it to them that it was not her and her parents did not believe her, as a results  her parents began to lose trust in her because of what they were told.  Therefore miss taken identity does not only kills us, but also damages the trust between the individual and their peers.

Saint Agnes for January 21

SAINT AGNES
Virgin and Martyr

Saint Agnes was twelve years old when she was led to the altar of Minerva at Rome and commanded to obey the persecuting laws of Diocletian by offering incense. In the midst of the idolatrous rites she raised her hands to Christ, her Spouse, and made the sign of the life-giving cross. She did not shrink when she was bound hand and foot, though the manacles slipped from her young hands, and the heathens who stood around were moved to tears. Bonds were not needed for her; she hastened gladly to the place of her torture.

When the judge saw that pain had no terrors for her, he inflicted a sentence comporting an insult worse than death: she was condemned to be taken to a house of infamy and her clothes stripped off. “I have an Angel with me,” she said, “and he will guard me. Christ, whom you do not know, surrounds me like a wall which cannot be forced.” And so it occurred. The Spouse of Virgins revealed, by a miracle, His custody of the pure in heart: her hair grew miraculously to such a length that she was entirely covered by it. The place to which she was taken was illuminated by a brilliant, inexplicable light; and there she knelt down to pray. At that site a Church has been built in honor of this young maiden’s victory over impurity. Only an impudent suitor, the cause of her arraignment as a Christian, dared approach her, and her Angel struck him dead at her feet. His father prayed Agnes to raise him up again by her magic arts; she answered that magic was not responsible for his death, but only the young pagan’s lack of respect for God. She said she would pray to Him that her Lord’s glory might be manifested by the miracle his father requested, and it was granted to her prayer.

At length the sentence of death by the sword was passed upon her by a subordinate judge. For a moment she stood erect in prayer, then bowed her neck to the sword, rejoicing that the time of her liberation had arrived. The Angels bore her pure soul to Paradise. A week after her death, Saint Agnes appeared to her parents as they were praying at her tomb; she was amid a choir of virgins clothed in golden robes and crowned with garlands. She begged them not to weep for her as for one dead, telling them rather to rejoice with her in her happiness.

A Belizean Poem By Belize's own Mr. Edward Broaster Number Two

My Treasure

Most people value material of this world
Such as silver, gold, diamonds, and pearl
While to others love & friendship is vital
The lust for these jewelries becomes fatal

Though some indulge in worldly pleasure
Love is & will be my most valuable treasure
Happiness comes not with possession of riches
Certainly not in common areas men reach

During the time I have to spend some leisure
It is then I examine myself & gather composure
Relinquishing stress is not hard to redress
As tender hand and oil down my back caress

Think not of financial gain I try other amenities
Surly this avoid pain, providing needed security
Knowledge is power and power is wisdom
In love lies all my treasures and freedom

My reflection
Every one has what they class or make as their treasure but how every his on is love because with love all his other things come along with. You could have all the riches in the world but if you don't have love you will not have the other treasures that come with it such as freedom, peach and so much more.

Holy Week

This is the last week of Lent and Holy Week will then come in to play.  Holy Week begins on Palm Sunday.  Palm Sunday was the day that Jesus came in to Jerusalem and was greeted by the people with palms and he was on a donkey.  In today's time the father bless the palm and then the congregation would walk around then walk in to church.  The palms that are left will be burn and be used for Ash Wednesday for next year.  After Palm Sunday is Holy Thursday where the church would cover the crucifix of Jesus on till Holy week is completed after Holy Thursday is Good Friday, Holy Saturday and Easter Sunday.

Movies

There are different kind of movies that are made to satisfied the different take that each person have in movies such as romance, action, family, comedy, killer, horror movie and much more that people like.  Movies were first made in black and white and without using a computer or different animation but  as the years fly pass the movies have developed dramatically meaning they are now made in color, are animated, have stunts that   you can’t see because of the computer and movies with both people and cartoon.  Movies are also based on true stories, novels or comic book and this is done so as to give to that clear picture of what happen or who your super hero really was.  My favorite move is scary movies, karate movies, some kids one just most of all one that is interesting and easy to understand and have a good meaning behind it.

Cell Phone

In today world this is the main way in which business, students and regular people to contact and communicate to each other. However do you think that you can be additive to the cell phone?  I think that yes it can be additive especially when it come to texting because as a teenager it is either texting or chatting on the internet.  Therefore as a teenage I always make sure that I have my phone on me where every I go an also check it to see if get a text or just to see the time hence it makes me feel if I am addictive to it.  However this is the reason why I think teenager are additive to the cell phone.

A Caribbean Poem By Martin Carter

This is the dark time my love

This is the dark time, my love,
All round the land brown beetles crawl about.
The shining sun is hidden in the sky.
Red flowers bend their heads in awful sorrow.

This is the dark time, my love.
It is the season of oppression, dark metal, and tears.
It is the festival of guns, the carnival of misery.
Everywhere the faces of men are strained and anxious.

Who comes walking in the dark nigh time?
Whose boot of steel tramps down the slender grass?
Is is the man of death, my love, the strang invader
Watching you sleep and aiming at your dream.

My Reflection

Is trying to bring both good and bad thing in to sight to compare what is bad and good in times of war.  The persona is tell you that it is a dark time because war and that the other side is coming in the night not to take your dreams but to kill and distroy you.  It is also tell you that there will always be dark times and problem and that it can come in any time of the day or night.

Dreams and Aspiration

"Shoot for the stars"

From we were small we was constantly ask what you want to be in life when you grow up.  Most would say a teacher, doctor, lawyer, fireman and much more.  However every year we get older we change our mind on what we wanted to be in life, but we should have dreams and aspiration because it helps us set gold and helps us to work hard and try to do our best and be the best so has to make our family and friends proud.  When I was younger I wanted to be a fisher man (woman), an engineer, a marine researcher, a dive master, and a business owner.  Through my years of growing up I would change my mind whenever they asked me.  However, I think I have set my mind what I wanted to be in life and to make my family proud and feel good in side.  I want to be a Certified Public Accountant and open my own accounting firm, or become a teacher in teaching accounting and other business subject. Therefore, I am working hard and going sleepless night so has to be the best that I can be in life and as a person.

Favorite Subject

In primary school, high school and in higher education we all have our most favorite and lest favorite subjects some preferred Math, English, Spanish, PE and much more because of what they love to do or was best in.  Some did not do well in some subject because maybe they hated to subject, wasn't go at it who knows it just how we are as human beings.

My favorite subject are not set but those that have in math I would say for example Math, Principles of Financing, Accounting which is my major, Business Statistics, Economics and much more.  The reason why I like these subjects is that they include calculation and critical think and commerhention skills that we can use when doing English comprehension. I also love to play with number meaning adding and subtracting and trying to figure out how to balance off in accounting and make equation balance in Math and Business Statistics.

When you find a subject that you like or good in enjoy it and do it to the best of your ability also along with the ones that you don’t like but try to put in the work with them as well.
Good Luck in school and continue to work hard because hard work does pay off.

Hobby

A hobby is an activity or interest that is undertaken for pleasure, typically done during one's leisure time. There are many activiy that one call as their hobby such as reading, singing, dancing, swimming, and playing sports these are just a few hobbies becasue there are so much more out there.  Hobby is some thing that is a part of us is what brings out a little piece of us that people do no see on a daily bases.  Well my hooby would be playing sports, watching television, listening to music or praticing my katas for karate which is my most favorite.  Karate which means open hand, is a hobby that I love the most beacuse it is something in karate that just bring out a peice of me that is not seen at school when I am hangingout with friend but only when I am training at my dojo which is Red Dragon Martial Arts.

Pets

There are many different animals that people chose to make as pets such as dogs, cats, birds, horse, cow, chicken and so much more.  Pets are friends that are our companion, best friend, play toy and so much more of what you want to make of them.  So even tell their pets their darkest secret because they know that if they tell them they will not tell any one else about it.  Pets is also help full in keeping ones company when they get older or even be a life savior or a guild for example the guide for the visually impaired.   However to me i have five pets which are 4 dogs and one parrot, and they are the most fun and exciting pets I have ever had and I could not have had it any better.  They are Jr, Goldy (my daughter), Sheba, Shadow and Pally.  And they are very fun to have as pets.

A Caribbean Poem By Henry King

A Contemplation Upon Flowers

Brave flowers, that I could gallant it like you,
And be as little vain;
You come abroad and make a harmless show,
And to your beds of earth again;
You are not proud, you know your birth,
For your embroidered garments are from earth.

You do obey your months and times, but I
Would have it ever spring;
My fare would know no winter, never die,
Nor think of such a thing;
Oh that I could my bed of earth but view,
And smile and look as cheerfully as you.

Oh teach me to see death and not to fear,
But rather to take truce;
How often have I seen  you at a bier,
And there look fresh and spruce;
You fragrant flowers then teach me that my breath
Like yours may sweeten and perfume my death.

My reflection
This poem is saying that flowers come into this world and blosm and accept death.  Also the flowers is not a fraid of death but dies with pride and gracefuly die.  It is also saying that the person whats to be like to flower and to not be afraid of death but to accept it cause it is part of us and its a part of life that we can not run away from. Hence is just want to accept death and die gracefully like the flower.

Cricket

Is a sport which is know as a bat-and-ball team sport.  Cricket can definitely be traced back to Tudor times in early 16th-century England, and in today's times it is wildly played by most villagers in the country of Belize.  In the villages this sport is know for gathering the most crowd and it is also a sport that villagers will even fight for.  From the small children in the rural areas play cricket on a daily basis compare to a child from city who plays basketball with that same passion as them.
The objective of each team is to score more runs than the other team and to completely dismiss the other team. In limited overs cricket, winning the game is achieved by scoring the most runs, even if the opposition has not been completely dismissed. In Test cricket, it is necessary to score the most runs and dismiss the opposition twice in order to win the match, which would otherwise be drawn.
Cricket
Number of players ( in each side ) : 11
Roles played by them : BATSMEN, BOWLERS, FIELDERS
Elements : Wickets, Cricket ball, Cricket bat, Pitch, Boundary.
Referees: 3 people (Umpire, Leg Umpire, Third Umpire -- relatively new rule)
Shape of playing field: Mostly Oval, ellipsoidal, sometimes.. a square. [ But, the boundary that is marked .. is always a ellipse ]
I have played the game before and I can say yes it is a bit confusing and hard to understand but it is a lot of fun to play and it a new sport to play than the regular basketball game.

Trips and it effects on you.

As individul we all love taking trips the reason is that we love to expeience and learn new and innovating places that we only hear and as see about.  Trips is some times or mabe most of the time costly and time consuming to plan but in the end we enjoy it to the very end.  There are different effects that trip as on use before we actually go on then while on them and when completed with your trip.

Before the trip we are all excited and the night before you dont want to sleep you just plan out all that you want to do, how many picture that you are going to take of what you will sleep.  Also weeks before the trip you would buy your snaks and other item to carry on the trip.

While on the trip if its by bus, car, plane, boat you would look out side and stair at what ever you see as well as take pictures and extiment just runs through your vane and most of all when your on trips and you well rested the day before  you still find yourself sleep in bus , car etc.

When the trip is over you feel extremly tired but at the same time you cant stop talking about it and all what you saw and did and you also sleep on the bus, car, etc once again.

Therefore, these are just some few effects of what a trip would do to you but in the end you will have great fun.  I love takind trips cause  I get to meet new people and learn about their way of life and also new places.  Trips are really fun.

Dad/ Father

A father is the other individual who had us, not all the time that is so becasue some times mothers are both mother and father.  This is because of being a single parent.  Dad is the person who is the bread winner of the family in most cases.  Fathers are some times role models to their sons.  In most home the fatther is the Jack of all trade and master of none. Well my father is someone I look up too because he is very hard working and ways try to see the good in every one and every thing that he do.  My father is some one that is always will to help you if you ask him too, also he is very help full when it comes to home work and other stuff.  My father is a wonder cheif I wish I can cook like him some day.  My father believe in family time cause that is esstial to him becasue that is away to keep the family together and up to date. My father is also my role model just like my mother.  So I pray that God continue to bless both my parents cause I am so thank ful for the both of them.

Barron Bliss (Henry Edward Ernest Victor Bliss)

Henry Edward Ernest Victor Bliss, commonly known as Baron Bliss (16 February 1869 – 9 March 1926)
British-born traveled who willed some two million U.S. dollars to a trust fund for the benefit of the citizens of what was then the colony of British, now Belize.
He styled himself "Fourth Baron Bliss of the Kingdom of Portugal"; there is some speculation that the original Portuguese title was BarĂ£o de Barreto. He was born into a wealthy Suffolk family and was rumored to have been disinherited for keeping a hansom cab waiting. He subsequently made a substantial fortune speculating in petroleum shares. Unfortunately, he contracted polio and decided to travel the world in a luxury yacht. After spells in the Bahamas, Trinidad and Jamaica, he arrived in Belize harbor, where he found a climate which suited him. He was extremely fond of the local people, and despite the fact that because of his physical infirmity he never set foot on Belizean soil, he bequeathed the bulk of his fortune for the benefit of the people of British Honduras.
The Bliss Institute (a performing arts centre that was previously a museum, research center and library in Belize City) was part of the benefits from this endowment, as were the city's Bliss Lighthouse (where Bliss's tomb is located), the Bliss School of Nursing and various other medical facilities around the country.
Belize celebrates Baron Bliss Day each March 9 in his honor.

Work experience/Job trainnig/ Internship

Work experience was very fun and interesting because I meet new people and also go and inside look of how it really feels to work on a daily bases and to apply what I have learned at school.  Work experience also let me open my eyes that you have to work hard for what ever you want in life and and every you want to buy as well as how to stretch your income so has to pay off your expense as well as buy what you need.  It also thought me that working together as a team is far better working by yourself because your able to get the done more faster and also more effective and that teams work is a tremendous way to motivate you.  That we should keep the customer at heart when we are working because they are the one main part that determine if a business will fail or be profitable.   Lastly, I really enjoy my work environment because  the staff is so friendly, mannerly and also have a big heart to accept some from the out side world to work them just for practice and that is really nice of them to do.

La Ruta Maya

La Ruta Maya Belize River Challenge is a grueling multi-day canoe race traveling a perilous river route across the country of Belize. The route runs West to East along the Macal and Belize Rivers, once the only link between beautiful San Ignacio, in the foothills of the Maya Mountains, and the bustling port of Belize City. This is a race for everyone (not just professional racers)!

There are 8 divisions for the race:
  • Male
  • Female
  • Mixed
  • Masters
  • Dory
  • Intramural
  • Pleasure craft
  • Family Adventure Race
The race occurs each year in March, coinciding with Baron Bliss Day. This year (2011), the canoes will leave San Ignacio on March 4 and arrive in Belize City on March 7. The teams, which race for station prizes along the way, battle for the major cash prizes awarded at the end of the race.

This race was founded by Cayo Tropical Fruits Limited. (producers of Big-H brand fruit juices, Vida Purified Water and Mamita Milks) with great support from many Belizean corporations and organizations such as The Belize Tourism Board, The Lodge at Chaa Creek resort, and the San Ignacio resort hotel. This year they also change the route by cutting it nine miles so rather than stopping in Bermuda Landing they are now stopping at Double head cabbage.   There are also 35 rules that one most obey when participating.  To know these rules you can see them at the web page below.

Mother

As human being we all have a mother, it doesn't have to be the one that give birth to us who us our biological mother.  A person who take care of us who tells us what every we being to her like a drawing or art it always look beautiful so has not to hurt our feeling.   A mother is also some one that you look up to has a role model and as a motivation, they also go out of their way to make sure that you have every thing for school and for home that's why we as children should do good in school because or mom do so much for us and only ask so little in return.  Mothers also show unconditional love to their family, is the string that keeps the family tided up and staying together.

My mother is my role model she is very hard working and she does her best to do give my and my sister what we need for school so that we may perform well.  She loves cooking and taking care of other more than herself.   Mother loves children and most of all taking care of them like if there her own.  If I ever consider becoming a mom in the far far future I would like to be just like my mom.

Family

Is some thing that is very important to me its something that I feel a person can not live with out.  Yes, friends are there for you and you could tell them all your little secrets, but family is the one who is always there to pick you up when your down. Who is there to give you advice and encouragement when you think that no more hope is there.  Family doesn't mean the number of person living with you or how  many relatives you know. It is people who come together to show each other how they care and and love and support one another.  Family to could be not just your mother, father or sister but also your team members, or club because you all come together as one your always together and also working together so has to win.  Therefore, you should appreciate your family despite all the bad time there are also good times and keep in mind that a family will always be there for you and will walk a thousand miles just to help you.

Goldy

Goldy is the name of my second small dog who came in to my life on Christmas day in 2007, she was given to us (my sister and I) as a gift from your father. She was so beautiful with her gold color hair that shine in the sun and that is how she got the name Goldy.
She was born on September 15, 2007 she had about four other brother and sisters.  She was very shy at first when we first got her but then became use to us she because very friendly, playful and happy.  I call her my daughter because my sister takes care of the other small dog name Jr and I take care of Goldy.

She is very active she loves to jump from chair to chair and also loves to be on high places.  In the afternoon she likes to sit in the sofa with my mom and take her nape along with my mom.  Goldy loves to eat ice cream, milk way chocolate and any other junk food along with her regular dog food.  Out of my four dog I like Goldy the best cause she is really unpredictable.

A Poem Dedicated to My Grandpa Percy Godfrey (1925-2008)

My Grandpa

Who is my grandpa?
Is he a man of justice,
Or a man of peace?
Is he a man of great abilities,
Or is he just new to the world?

Who is my grandpa?
Is he the captain o f Governor's greatest sail ship,
Or tall as trees and strong like Hulk?

No, he was not the president of his country,
Nor was he superman to set us all free,
But he was great to me.

He was always happy and free,
Even though he is not young like you and me
But he was great to me.

So let me tell you who he was to me
He was the best friend a child could ever had,
The greatest play toy that you could give a child.
And he was always my dictionary,
And he was great to me.

So Happy Birthday gramps
On your special day.

Just continue being my heat string.
And Big and Great to me!

Rest in peace  Gramps I really miss you

A Belizean Poem By Belize's own Mr. Edward Broaster

A Picture

Yesterday I saw a picture of a child
Pause for a moment and wondered for a while
Many questions not yet answered in that picture
Like what does Belize have in store for her future?

A reply only the mother can give
Of exactly how her child will live
An innocent baby with a smile on her face
Not knowing the horrors and wonders of this place

Cuddled in the safety of her mother's arm
Away form all the mayhem and senseless harm
Picture is not just merely a thousand words
More so of history and what baby's worth

Part of life, a snap shot of the moment
Having no idea of the unfolding event
That surrounds them until they begin to comprehend
This is why a mother defends her child to the very end.

Reflection
Yes, they say that a picture is worth a thousand words but also a snap shot of the  moment, and a history of what took place.  A young baby will laugh and smile at what every thing that you show him or her because they don't know the real meaning of things if its good or bad, if its harmfull or something to play with, all they know that it is just fasinating to them cause its the first time that they have seen it.  Thats why a mother would take such care of their child, they would do any thing for them so as to keep them safe and allow them to get the very best in life.
